Festivals in India
It is famous among the people in Rajasthan and is held for twelve days with Rajasthani men and women in their colourfull traditional clothing and thousands of bulls, cows, sheep, goats, horses and camels in richly decorated saddles.
Pushkar Mela: It is the largest cattle fair in the world, and attracts more than one lakhs people, who come from different parts of India and abroad.
Trading of cattle, camel races and amazing displays of accessories make the fair colourfull. It displays things from glass beads from Naguar, pottery, printed textiles from Jodhpur and Ajmer all can be purchased here. Farmers, cattle traders and breeders buy and sell their animals, accessories etc.
Pushkar has a large number of temples including one of the only two temples dedicated to Lord Brahma in India. Devotees take a ritual dip in the holy Pushkar Lake on the day of the Kartik Poornima which is the full moon night of the Kartik month and worship at the Brahma temple Jagat Pita Shri Brahma Mandir . It is believed that all the Gods and Goddesses are present at Pushkar Lake during this occasion.
People participate in a number of cultural and sporting events held in the mela. There are thousands of stalls of food, and people selling stuff.
